There were tie-dye shirts and bandanas, peace signs and love beads, and the sounds of Santana and Country Joe & the Fish.
The scene was Larry and Bev Glickman’s Woodstock 50th anniversary party at their Long Beach, Long Island digs, some 125 miles south of where the famed three-day concert was staged in August 1969.
Asked to snap some shots of the festivities, I arrived with the goal to stealthily capture my subjects unawares while their emotions and expressions ran as au naturel as hippies of decades past.
The postage-stamp-sized backyard filled with dozens of revelers, though, and left me with limited workspace. So I switch to a modified Plan A: zoom in on them sharing laughs over cocktails or dancing to guitarist Kerry Kearney and his five-piece blues band rocking into the night.
At our hosts’ request, I managed to clear enough room for some obligatory group and couples shots. Overall, an enjoyable and successful shot.
Peace out!
